Terms of Service
1. Service
Kaling is a free browser-based kalimba rhythm game published by Arsonist at kaling.app. By using Kaling, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Kaling includes rhythm-game play, original music, selected downloadable staff-notation score PDFs, local profile settings, and score leaderboards.
2. No account or payment
Regular players use Kaling as anonymous guests. No sign-up or player login is required. Every song, gameplay chart, published score PDF, note skin and gameplay feature is available without a purchase, subscription or other payment.
3. Scores and local profile
Your browser creates a random guest identifier. Your nickname, country, favourites and equipped note skin are stored on your device. Submitted scores are stored on the server under that guest identifier so they can appear on leaderboards.
Clearing browser site data can remove the local identifier and settings. Kaling cannot guarantee that a local profile can be recovered after it is cleared or when you move to another device.
4. Fair play
You agree not to interfere with the service or other players.
- Do not automate, fabricate or manipulate scores or leaderboard results.
- Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to administration, servers or other systems.
- Do not use Kaling in a way that violates applicable law or disrupts availability for others.
5. Intellectual property and score-PDF licence
Unless stated otherwise, Kaling's software, graphics, music, compositions, arrangements, charts and published score PDFs are owned or controlled by Arsonist / Kaling. Downloading a score does not transfer ownership or any copyright to you.
For each score PDF Kaling publishes, Kaling grants you a no-charge, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to download and print it only for your own personal practice and non-commercial performance.
Any use outside that limited licence requires advance written permission from Kaling.
- Do not upload, repost, share, distribute, sublicense, rent or otherwise make a score PDF available to another person or service.
- Do not sell, resell, bundle with a paid product, monetise, or otherwise use a score PDF or its notation for commercial purposes.
- Do not publish or distribute an arrangement, transcription, derivative score, recording or tutorial made from a Kaling score without written permission.
- Do not remove, hide or alter the copyright, licensing or attribution notice in a score PDF.
- Do not use Kaling score PDFs or their notation to train, fine-tune or supply a generative-AI system without written permission.
6. Availability and liability
Kaling is provided as is and may change, pause or become unavailable. To the extent permitted by law, Arsonist is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot legally be excluded.
7. Changes
These terms may be updated when the service changes. The current version and its update date are published on this page. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
